About the position

The Director Industry Marketing - Consumer leads a team of marketers responsible for driving the go-to-market strategy and planning for UL Solutions' consumer industry verticals, which have defined revenue and growth objectives. This role is pivotal in driving growth for all Consumer Testing, Inspection, and Certification products and solutions. The successful Director is expected to be expertly familiar with industry issues, vernacular, regulations, and unique buying behavior, providing insights and intelligence that inform innovation and go-to-market strategies. The Director will be the master author and owner of the consumer marketing plan, soliciting key contributions from and effectively orchestrating interlocks with other functions of the Marketing organization. In this role, the Director will leverage deep industry knowledge to direct a team responsible for defining the market opportunity for Consumer Testing, Inspection, and Certification. This includes categorizing which solutions should be promoted, determining competitive positioning, messaging, routes to market, target buyers, and understanding the buying cycle. The Director will monitor and adjust strategies in response to industry trends, acting as a subject matter expert and directing efforts to complete competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and impending risks. The Director will interlock with strategic communication, marketing operations, and regional marketing to architect and direct buyer-centric campaigns and programs that build awareness and demand for industry solutions. This includes writing or curating content in industry vernacular for inbound and outbound marketing activities, monitoring and reporting on industry marketing successes, and adjusting strategies to ensure ongoing success. The Director will also expertly understand the demand type and primary influencer audiences within the industry, mapping out the customer buying process and isolating nuances and patterns. Additionally, the Director will contribute to or direct the creation and ongoing maintenance of industry-specific buyer personas and identify target accounts within the industry. Finally, the Director will direct best-in-class collaboration with a formal sales enablement function and solution specialists on a well-defined sales enablement plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing, communication or a related field.
  • More than 10 years of experience including five years or more of relevant management/leadership experience.
