About the position

The Director of the Information Technology (IT)/Digital Technology Services (DTS) Project Management Office is responsible for overseeing the throughput of DTS projects within the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. This role involves managing a team that supports project intake, project management, portfolio management, and IT solution analysis. The director ensures effective project delivery through established governance standards and methodologies, while also tracking project performance metrics and communicating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize DTS projects with HMH's strategic objectives and manage variances and risks.
  • Establish and maintain project governance standards and methodologies for effective project delivery.
  • Manage DTS project resources, including staffing and budgets, to align with project goals.
  • Direct project managers in scope, schedule, cost, risk, resources, and quality management.
  • Develop and implement best practices for demand management, project execution, and portfolio reporting.
  • Standardize program communications and deliverables such as charters, issue logs, and risk management plans.
  • Develop portfolio and program plans to track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Create metrics to ensure projects align with financials, estimates, and resource needs.
  • Foster collaborative partnerships among executive leaders and stakeholders for resource planning and project pipeline decisions.
  • Lead the development of IT procurement workflows in collaboration with the DTS Vendor Management Office.
  • Develop and maintain project costing capabilities with the DTS Financial Operations team.
  • Manage strategic projects in collaboration with the HMH Integration Management Office.
  • Train, schedule, and evaluate team performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, management information systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in portfolio management and IT project management.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in IT project and portfolio management.
  • Experience facilitating meetings related to portfolio governance and project reviews.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in PMO, SDLC, and governance best practices.
  • Experience with roadmaps and deployments of production applications.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced skills in preparing and presenting digital presentations.
  • Ability to understand complex business flows.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Team-oriented with collaborative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, business, management information systems, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Scrum and/or Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with PPM tools like Asana or ServiceNow.
  • Experience in Change Management.
