About the position

As a Director of Infrastructure Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Network Product Line, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology within the organization. This position requires advanced technical knowledge and the ability to manage complex issues across various technical areas. You will be responsible for overseeing one large area or multiple smaller ones, exercising independent judgment within general guidelines to determine appropriate actions. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the success of the infrastructure engineering function, ensuring that teams deliver in accordance with compliance standards, risk and security protocols, service level agreements, and business requirements. In this role, you will manage and implement corporate and divisional operational plans, providing broad direction to teams, team leads, and supervisors. You will also be responsible for managing key senior stakeholders, ensuring that the needs of multiple disciplines within the function are anticipated and met. Leading a team of Lead Infrastructure Engineers, you will serve as the primary interface between the line of business clients and the Network Product Line, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Feature Team Engineers, and Operations. Your responsibilities will include driving multiple complex projects, processes, and initiatives, as well as developing and executing the function's objectives with accountability for outcomes. You will oversee staffing, budget management, and relevant profit and loss responsibilities, while also mentoring and coaching junior engineers and technologists. A key aspect of your role will be to champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members, prioritizing diverse representation within your teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manages technical areas within infrastructure engineering and collaborates with others across different technical areas.
  • Implements corporate and divisional operational plans and provides broad direction to teams, team leads, and supervisors.
  • Manages key senior stakeholders and ensures teams deliver in accordance with compliance standards, risk and security, service level agreements, and business requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams of infrastructure engineers.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Extensive knowledge of hardware aligned to infrastructure engineering.
  • Exposure to managing and developing budgets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in maintaining a clear portfolio of projects and key change activities for supported entities.
  • Ability to ensure client awareness of projects and support technology partners in effective implementation.
  • Experience in establishing and managing client relationships in line with the agreed NPL client engagement model.
  • Ability to interact between clients and product teams on business-required services and ensure follow-up on client unique requirements until delivery.
  • Experience acting as a point of escalation and advocate for clients facing infrastructure-related issues.
  • Extensive experience in partnering with clients in a technology field with engineers.
