About the position

The Director of Institutional Research & Data Analytics at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the institution's data strategy, enhancing data governance, and advancing the overall data analytics maturity level. This role involves developing a centralized data analytics and management unit, providing high-quality data services to support academic, business, operations, and research activities. The Director will lead the transformation of MSM's data landscape to improve decision-making processes, operational efficiency, and research outcomes. In this strategic leadership position, the Director will develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with MSM's mission and goals. They will drive the advancement of MSM's data analytics maturity, focusing on data governance, data quality, and data-driven decision-making. The Director will also lead the development of a centralized data analytics and management unit to serve various institutional needs, ensuring that the institution can effectively utilize data to inform its operations and strategic initiatives. The role encompasses overseeing the data governance committee, ensuring compliance with data management policies and best practices, and establishing data standards and quality metrics. The Director will develop and implement a robust data governance framework to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of institutional data. In terms of data analytics and reporting, the Director will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced data analytics solutions to support institutional goals. They will enhance the capability of data analytics tools and platforms to enable self-service analytics and reporting, collaborating with academic, administrative, and clinical departments to identify data needs and provide actionable insights. Additionally, the Director will support research initiatives by providing data analytics expertise and developing predictive models. They will lead the Honest Broker project, building a process to support research data access while maintaining confidentiality and compliance, and facilitate the integration and analysis of diverse data sources to support research outcomes. To improve operational efficiency, the Director will develop data-driven processes and performance metrics, conduct surveys and assessments to identify opportunities for operational improvements, and provide data analytics services to support operational and academic decision-making. They will also build and lead a high-performing data analytics team, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement while collaborating with IT and other departments to ensure the seamless integration of data systems and solutions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Applied Econometrics, Data Analytics, Healthcare System Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data analytics, data governance, and data management, preferably in an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in predictive modeling, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and leading data governance committees and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements in healthcare and education.
