About the position

The Director of Insurance Finance at Porch Group is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis functions for the insurance division, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance industry and strong analytical skills to communicate complex financial information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the annual budget, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans for the insurance division.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align financial strategies with business objectives and growth plans.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide insights on performance metrics, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate financial impacts of business decisions, including market expansions and strategic investments.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including variance analysis, financial statements, and management reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of financial models, forecasts, and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts and planners, providing guidance and support for professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial planning and reporting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

Requirements

  • 12+ years' experience with all phases of P&C insurance company finance and accounting, investment and treasury operations, and financial planning and analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance/Accounting.
  • Knowledge of US STAT & GAAP as well as SEC reporting standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially related to personnel development, project management, budgeting, planning and management reporting.
  • Excellent excel and modeling skills.
