About the position

The Director, Integrated Strategic Communications - US Pharmaceuticals at Bayer is responsible for leading the development of integrated strategic communications to enhance Bayer's brand and reputation while achieving business outcomes. This role focuses on various communications initiatives, particularly in women's healthcare, and involves collaboration with senior leaders across product franchises to deliver impactful communication strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of integrated strategic communications for Bayer and US Pharmaceuticals.
  • Focus on women's healthcare initiatives to achieve US business outcomes.
  • Serve as a champion on Business Enablement teams for key communications initiatives.
  • Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with timelines and budget.
  • Create a compelling narrative and strategic message platform for target audiences.
  • Interface with country leaders and global communications colleagues to implement global strategies.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief for pharmaceutical communications content/media planning.
  • Develop creative communications strategies in partnership with brand and marketing teams.
  • Provide strategic counsel to brand leaders for favorable business positioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful communications.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare and industry journalists.
  • Implement a measurement program to track goals and adjust programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a similar field.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing external communications programs.
  • Experience in media relations and understanding of the global media environment.
  • Excellent oral presentation and influence skills.
  • Strong writing skills to produce clear and compelling communications quickly.
  • Experience advising senior and executive level teams.
  • Strong commercial focus and business acumen.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed structure.
  • Proficiency with digital communications and social media tools.
  • Comfortable with medical and science-based content.
  • Strategic thinker with high execution capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum of 15 years of related professional experience in pharma or a related industry with a focus on external communications and reputation management.
