About the position

The Director of Integration and API Development at CVS Health is a pivotal technical leadership role within the Aetna Enterprise Integrations organization. This position is responsible for overseeing the delivery of APIs, integrations, microservices, and middleware applications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in API engineering and multi-API platforms, driving transformational changes and innovative solutions while ensuring effective delivery and operational management. The role emphasizes mentoring teams, fostering a positive culture, and aligning technical strategies with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in delivering APIs, integrations, microservices, and middleware-based applications.
• Mentor engineering teams to enhance expertise and foster a supportive culture.
• Manage day-to-day API development and operational management of multiple Enterprise API Platforms.
• Identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with peers and other leaders.
• Guide work prioritization in alignment with strategic objectives.
• Monitor and optimize performance, addressing issues and bottlenecks.
• Build relationships with partners, vendors, teams, and customers.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in middleware and integration technologies.
• Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners.
• Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to provide effective solutions.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering end-to-end delivery.
• 10+ years in various Integration Technologies, Microservices, and Middleware development.
• 5+ years of experience in various API platforms such as Boomi, IBM APIC, Mulesoft.
• 2+ years of experience with Kong.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong experience in IBM IIB/ACE, Java Microservices, or related technologies such as Oracle SOA.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (Azure, GCP), engineering frameworks, and tools.
• Health insurance industry experience with a deep understanding of the health care value chain.
• Experience delivering in Agile, SAFE, Kanban, and Lean practices.
