About the position

The Director of Integration and API Development at CVS Health is a pivotal technical leadership role within the Aetna Enterprise Integrations (AEI) organization. This position is responsible for leading teams in the delivery of APIs, integrations, microservices, and middleware-based applications. The ideal candidate will drive transformational changes, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure efficient and effective delivery while fostering a positive team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams in end-to-end API and Integration delivery using various API platforms such as IBM APIC, Kong, and Mulesoft.
  • Mentor engineering teams to strengthen expertise and encourage innovation.
  • Manage day-to-day API development and operational management of multiple Enterprise API Platforms.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with peers and other leaders.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, addressing issues or bottlenecks.
  • Build relationships with partners, vendors, teams, and customers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in middleware and integration technologies.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in software engineering end-to-end delivery
  • 10+ years in various Integration Technologies, Microservices, and Middleware development
  • 5+ years of experience in various API platforms such as Boomi, IBM APIC, Mulesoft
  • 2+ years of experience with Kong
  • Strong experience in IBM IIB/ACE, Java Microservices, or related technologies
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (Azure, GCP)
  • Health insurance industry experience with a deep understanding of the healthcare value chain
  • Experience delivering in Agile, SAFE, Kanban, and Lean practices
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
