About the position

The Director IT Strategy at Gartner Consulting is a senior-level role focused on Data & Analytics strategy consulting for State & Local Government clients. This position involves leading project management and delivery, providing thought leadership, and advising clients on how technology can enhance their organizational goals. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to manage customer relationships while identifying growth opportunities within the account.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management and delivery for Data & Analytics consulting engagements.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic advice to clients on technology's role in achieving their goals.
  • Manage teams of consultants and subject matter experts, ensuring quality and timely delivery of projects.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to develop and prioritize strategic initiatives and execution roadmaps.
  • Conduct market research and advise clients on the latest technology trends in Data & Analytics and AI.
  • Assist clients in sourcing D&A solutions, including writing requirements and evaluating vendors.
  • Develop and enhance clients' Data and Analytics standards and governance strategies.
  • Facilitate workshops and presentations for various stakeholders, including C-Suite executives.
  • Mentor and coach internal team members on technical expertise and project management best practices.
  • Support business development efforts and sales pursuits alongside Managing Partners.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a management or technology consultancy focused on Data & Analytics/AI.
  • Strong passion for working with public sector clients.
  • Familiarity with the Data & Analytics solution market and technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing project teams.
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships with senior executives.
  • Coachable and open to feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated perseverance and a positive outlook in challenging situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree or certification.
  • 7+ years of experience with a major consultancy or boutique firm.
