Princeton University Library (PUL) is seeking a skilled and creative Director of Library Communications to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive internal and external communication strategies. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring that all communications reflect and advance the mission and strategic vision of PUL, as articulated in our North Star statements. The Director will provide strategic advice to the Dean of Libraries and the Library Strategy Council (LSC) on various communication matters, including drafting and disseminating communications on a wide range of topics. The role requires the ability to provide timely communications in fast-paced situations and to consult on ongoing issues that may affect the public perception of PUL. The Director will report directly to the Dean of Libraries and collaborate closely with members of the LSC and other library leaders. They will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and overseeing initiatives that identify key messaging, promote awareness, and ensure brand consistency across all communication platforms. Additionally, the Director will cultivate media relations with the University's Office of Communications and various press/media outlets to enhance public awareness of PUL initiatives. They will also work collaboratively to develop and implement internal best practices, processes, and tools aimed at improving organizational communications. In this role, the Director and their team will advise library staff across departments, ensuring a cohesive look and feel for all library communications, including voice, style, and tone for publicity, events, and outreach efforts directed at external stakeholders, while adhering to core messaging.
