About the position

The Director of Maintenance for Air Operations at Mayo Clinic is responsible for overseeing all aviation maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with federal aviation regulations, and maintaining a safe and cost-effective operation. This role serves as the primary contact with the FAA and emphasizes a culture of safety within the organization, prioritizing patient needs through aviation safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and ensure all aviation maintenance is conducted safely and cost-effectively.
  • Serve as the point of contact with the FAA for aviation maintenance-related activities.
  • Model and promote the Mayo Clinic Culture of Safety by adhering to safety behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal aviation regulations (FARs).
  • Oversee the maintenance of aircraft used by Mayo Clinic.

Requirements

  • Mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings.
  • 3 years' experience maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic or in a certificated airframe repair station.
  • Experience in maintaining the same category and class of aircraft used by Mayo Clinic (BK117-D3/D2, BK117-C2, King Air).
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if driving a Mayo Clinic vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Business Management, or related field.
  • 3 years' supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in a helicopter EMS operation.
  • Previous experience in an air ambulance operation.
  • Previous experience as a Director of Maintenance.
