About the position

The Director, Market Access Strategy & Operations will play a pivotal role in the Abilify LAI Business Unit at Lundbeck, a global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to restoring brain health. This position is responsible for executing market access strategies across the Psychiatry portfolio, utilizing sound market access principles and analytics while collaborating with Alliance partners. The Director will elevate insights and ensure effective tactical execution of field pull-through efforts in partnership with Sales leaders. This role is crucial for promoting operational excellence within the Abilify LAI Business Unit and requires collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Sales, Advanced Analytics, Training, Legal, and Compliance. In the Market Access domain, the Director will work closely with business unit heads, sales leaders, and marketing leaders to establish and implement both near and long-term organizational market access strategies that align with brand priorities. This includes facilitating cross-functional business problem-solving through structured hypotheses, detailed analyses, and synthesized insights that lead to actionable recommendations for senior leadership. The Director will drive the end-to-end execution of Market Access opportunities and partner with Alliance counterparts to ensure alignment of product strategies and effective pull-through of access opportunities. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and gaining insights into pharmaceutical commercialization trends and lifecycle management opportunities, creating new initiatives to explore and implement. In terms of operations, the Director will focus on operational excellence across the two Abilify LAI brands, providing ongoing updates on market franchise narratives and driving strategic planning processes such as quarterly business reviews and global presentations. The position requires a strategic thinker who can diagnose and identify operational trends and relate them to the broader strategic picture, ensuring that Lundbeck remains at the forefront of market access in the psychiatric space.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement near and long-term organizational market access strategies aligned with brand priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional business problem solving through structured hypotheses and detailed analyses.
  • Drive end-to-end execution of Market Access opportunities.
  • Partner with Alliance counterparts to align product strategies and pull-through access opportunities.
  • Ensure effectiveness of Access Marketing outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Market Access colleagues to leverage synergies and best practices.
  • Drive focus and operational excellence across the Abilify LAI brands.
  • Monitor pharmaceutical commercialization trends and lifecycle management opportunities.
  • Develop capabilities for operating with agility and learning from new projects.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech and/or similar healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years of progressive Market Access experience.
  • Strong understanding of payer channels, customer dynamics, and physician access needs for pharmacy benefit products.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to diagnose and relate operational trends to the bigger strategic picture.
  • Strong executive presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to network across a broad internal and external matrix organization.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence without direct management authority.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep experience in both pharmacy and medical benefit markets.
  • Advanced training in market access discipline, including strategies for launches and reimbursement dynamics.
  • Health policy and/or health economics experience/expertise.
  • Understanding of project management and legal/regulatory approval processes.
  • Experience modeling business scenarios and developing business cases.
  • Home Office experience in a U.S. pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical organization.
  • MBA, MHA, or other advanced degrees.
