About the position

The Director of Marketing and Business Development is responsible for revenue generation through the sale of property and media assets, as well as the strategic marketing direction of the shopping center. This role involves marketing and selling mall assets to consumers, advertisers, and the surrounding business community, while also developing and implementing strategies to enhance retailer engagement and overall financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, create and sell revenue opportunities through strategic positioning of mall assets, media assets, and mall programming.
  • Develop and implement retailer intensification strategies.
  • Promote platform program opportunities to retailers and secure retailer offers to enhance programming.
  • Execute all national and/or regional SBV programs and initiatives at the field level.
  • Create annual marketing budgets based on retailer dues and allocate expenses to support platform programming and brand messaging.
  • Forecast monthly and maximize marketing dollars by analyzing ROI.
  • Develop and execute an annual marketing plan that supports corporate marketing objectives and impacts financial objectives.
  • Coordinate shopping center visual merchandising, signage, and advertising programs.
  • Maintain effective media relations and prepare responses to media inquiries.
  • Drive growth of social media channels and increase data collection for the business unit.
  • Oversee management and budget of Guest Services, including hiring and training staff.
  • Assist in driving the center's gift card program.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty rotation and other management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree with emphasis in sales, marketing, or business.
  • 4-6 years previous experience in sales, sponsorship, strategic marketing, event management, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of retail management, marketing, advertising, and the media industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, selling, and negotiation skills.
  • Superior computer skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends and evenings.
  • Strong team building and coaching skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Some overnight travel required.
  • Ability to think strategically.
