About the position

The Director/Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, USA, at Lightsource bp is a leadership role responsible for developing and executing the marketing and communications strategy for the company in the United States. This position involves close collaboration with the executive team and the Global Head of Marketing and Communications to ensure a consistent brand identity and to enhance the company's public image. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the renewable energy sector and a proven track record in marketing and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies to support corporate goals.
  • Create content strategies that enhance corporate culture and employee engagement.
  • Build corporate culture aligned with global sustainability ethos and core values.
  • Manage internal communications specific to the region in coordination with the central team.
  • Support employer branding and engagement initiatives.
  • Handle media relations and crisis communication.
  • Educate communities on renewable energy benefits and combat misinformation.
  • Oversee digital communication channels including website, social media, and digital advertising.
  • Build relationships with media, customers, partners, and communities.
  • Implement reporting and tracking systems to measure effectiveness of strategies.
  • Lead and develop a strong marketing and communications team in the USA.
  • Maintain and report on budgets.
  • Supervise assigned communications team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with extensive experience in marketing and communications.
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is required.
  • Proven track record of marketing and communications success with advanced skills.
  • 8+ years in a senior leadership role in Marketing and Communications.
  • 10+ years of team management experience including internal and external suppliers.
  • 10+ years of writing experience including blogs, press releases, and social media posts.
  • 5+ years of experience dealing with journalists at national and local levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in crisis response and media relations.
  • Ability to adapt communication strategies to diverse cultural environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret briefs effectively.
  • Experience in digital communication trends and tools.
