About the position

The Marketing Director - US Poultry and Swine at Ceva Animal Health is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all technical marketing activities related to poultry and swine products, including pharmaceuticals and biologicals. This position is based in Lenexa, Kansas, and plays a crucial part in managing the pricing and promotion of Ceva's extensive range of poultry and swine vaccines. The Marketing Director will also be responsible for organizing customer and internal events, ensuring that the marketing strategies align with the overall business objectives of the company. In this role, the Marketing Director will lead a team of four marketing professionals, including a product manager for the Immucox Range, a digital and events marketing associate, a custom vaccines coordinator, and a sales and marketing administrative assistant. The director will manage the US poultry and swine vaccine and pharmaceutical portfolio, which includes products such as Marek's, autogenous, coccidiosis, iron, RNA, and bacterins. This involves setting pricing, promotion strategies, and packaging for these products, as well as building short and long-range sales forecasts. The Marketing Director will conduct market and competitive intelligence, analyzing data from CEESA, USDA, and other third-party research to inform marketing strategies. They will prepare technical marketing materials and oversee customer and industry events, such as IPPE, AAAP, AASV, and World Pork Expo. Additionally, the director will support the development of new vaccines and vaccination techniques, ensuring alignment with the sales and marketing teams. As a key member of the senior leadership team for the US poultry and swine business units, the Marketing Director will serve as a liaison with corporate teams and provide feedback on local market situations. They will also be responsible for managing external marketing communications and maintaining positive relationships with customers through regular visits and events. The role requires a strong focus on performance metrics, compliance with contracts, and ongoing professional development to maintain expertise in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a team of 4 marketing professionals, including the Immucox Range product manager, digital and events marketing associate, custom vaccines coordinator, and sales and marketing administrative assistant.
  • Manage the US poultry and swine vaccine and pharmaceutical portfolio of products, including pricing, promotion, placement, and packaging.
  • Build the short and long-range sales forecasts for each product and product range.
  • Conduct market and competitive intelligence, including analyzing and reporting of CEESA data, USDA market data, and other third-party research.
  • Prepare technical marketing materials and events, such as product information sheets, technical bulletins, and scientific symposiums.
  • Oversee customer and industry events and congresses, including IPPE, AAAP, AASV, and World Pork Expo.
  • Support the development of new and innovative vaccines and vaccination equipment and techniques.
  • Align objectives and coordinate activities with the Poultry and Swine sales and marketing teams.
  • Serve as liaison and subject matter expert with the Zone and Corporate Poultry and Swine Franchise teams.
  • Participate in the senior leadership team for the US poultry and swine business units.
  • Manage external customer and industry marketing communications, including trade print/online advertising and sponsorships.
  • Establish and maintain target, floor, and average selling prices for all US poultry and swine products in coordination with corporate franchise teams.
  • Gather information and feedback from sales and VSE teams and customers, sharing it internally for future projects.
  • Define a Business Plan based on the Global Strategy established by Corporate and implement it, gathering feedback for adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with customers through regular visits, events, and calls.
  • Accompany the Sales team on major Key Account negotiations and liaise between Corporate and local teams.
  • Define and follow up on key performance indicators throughout the year, reporting results to Corporate and Key Customers as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with purchase and/or customer rebate contracts, utilizing Ceva legal and finance teams as needed.
  • Attend Corporate-led training and congresses, seminars, and events related to professional areas of expertise, engaging in self-training for new technical updates.
  • Deliver issue diagnoses and expert support on demand, conducting Key Customer visits and providing professional consultation related to Ceva Poultry and Swine Vaccines and Pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide technical/scientific advice to customers and ensure periodic training of the local organization on scientific/technical subjects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in animal or poultry sciences or a related advanced degree, such as DVM.
  • At least ten years of experience in the poultry or swine industry with specific expertise in live production and/or animal health.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of poultry and swine diseases, including viral and bacterial diseases.
  • Ability to analyze data and design, plan, and carry out scientific trials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ceva's products and services, as well as those of competitors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
  • Ability to extract actionable information from data storage/analytics tools to grow business.
