About the position

The Director of Merchandise Planning at David's Bridal is responsible for leading the divisional merchandise planning efforts, collaborating with the buying team to develop and execute strategies aimed at driving sales, optimizing inventory investment, and achieving margin and return-on-investment goals. This role involves working closely with various teams across the organization, including marketing, finance, and e-commerce, to ensure effective planning and execution of merchandise strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead divisional merchandise planning and collaborate with the buying team to drive sales and optimize inventory investment.
  • Develop and execute strategies for achieving margin goals and return-on-investment targets.
  • Create processes to operationalize strategies and new initiatives for the team.
  • Develop effective financial plans that optimize divisional sales and manage forecasts.
  • Partner with finance to support annual plans and approve divisional financials.
  • Communicate opportunities and risks related to sales and inventory management.
  • Generate and action an annual promotional roadmap in collaboration with marketing and store operations.
  • Oversee cost-benefit analysis for assortment expansion and pricing strategies.
  • Cultivate the growth and performance of the divisional planning team, including managing performance and career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Merchandise and Retail Planning or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of increasingly responsible merchandise planning experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of fashion/retail demand planning and planning systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a financial or planning capacity with a growth-oriented retailer or brand-driven consumer-facing businesses.
  • Experience leading teams to achieve results and managing performance.
