About the position

The Director of Platform and Delivery Management is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing updates of Santander's Middleware platforms, ensuring alignment with both company and regulatory requirements. This role involves a comprehensive evaluation of development projects, resource scheduling, and addressing the needs of software development teams. The Director will oversee the building, testing, and maintenance of middleware platforms, while also preparing necessary systems documentation. The position requires executing technical plans, conducting system analysis, and creating detailed design specifications, which must pass through the Architecture Review Board (ARB) approval process. The Director will also lead the development, unit, and component testing phases, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement complex projects effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Director will manage the roadmap for implementing new features for the Enterprise middleware platforms. This includes authoring and driving feature specifications in collaboration with the dedicated Engineering team. The role requires defining the customer journey and user experience, partnering with creative staff to deliver exceptional designs. The Director will lead a team of architects, senior platform engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the delivery of a regulatory-compliant middleware platform, utilizing agile methodologies to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and update Santander Middleware platforms according to company and regulatory needs.
  • Evaluate, schedule, and resource development projects while addressing software development team needs.
  • Build, test, and maintain middleware platforms, preparing necessary systems documentation.
  • Execute technical plans, conduct system analysis, and create detailed design specifications for ARB approval.
  • Manage the roadmap for implementing new features for the Enterprise middleware platforms.
  • Author and drive feature specifications with the Engineering team.
  • Define customer journey and user experience, collaborating with creative staff for design delivery.
  • Lead a team of architects, senior platform engineers, and domain SMEs to deliver compliant middleware platforms using agile methodology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 9-12 years of experience in Middleware Engineering Management, Software Development Team Management, and/or Application Portfolio Management.
  • Proven track record managing large, complex software development/integration projects in both host and distributed environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in managing large middleware platforms including Confluent Kafka, IBM API Connect, Mulesoft, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in automating Springboot microservices deployments using Github Actions.
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud platform and its services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, and S3.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of external competition, industry, and market trends relevant to the business.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management concepts and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the latest technology innovations and their applicability to business operations.
  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across all management levels.
  • Proactive team player with effective time management skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines/projects independently.
