About the position

The Director of National Security Sales at Blue Origin is responsible for leading efforts to shape, pursue, and secure partnerships and contracts within the National Security Space (NSS) sector, particularly with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. This role involves direct interaction with external customers, internal technical staff, and senior leadership, requiring a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality in human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of capture strategy and campaign teams for sales of Blue Origin products and services to U.S. Government acquisition programs.
  • Lead development and writing of comprehensive proposals and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Track U.S. Government programs of interest, including budget, Congressional actions, and technical requirements.
  • Assess competitor capabilities and offerings to understand market competitiveness.
  • Assist in developing Blue Origin positions on issues and communicate those positions to Congressional and U.S. Government agency offices.
  • Engage with current and prospective Government and industry customers to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to translate complex technical matters into accessible information.
  • Manage consultants as necessary to support various initiatives.
  • Think creatively about how Blue Origin's Vision connects to national security objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
  • 15+ years of proven experience on U.S. Government space-related activities and programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with success in communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in government contracting, including knowledge of contract management and proposal evaluations.
  • Experience developing and implementing capture management strategies for U.S. Government programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills for tracking customers and compiling proposals.
  • High judgment, energy, creativity, and standards for oneself and others.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience with program cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Previous Federal Government employment or U.S. military service.
