About the position

The Director of Accounting and Finance at E-Business International is responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring operational efficiency, and providing strategic financial insights. This role involves managing financial reporting, coordinating with external CPAs, and leading the adoption of financial technologies. The director will also mentor the accounting team and collaborate with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the accounting department, including a Controller and three accounting staff.
  • Recommend and implement cost-effective efficiencies to streamline accounting operations.
  • Evaluate year-end financial results and conduct capital account analyses.
  • Produce detailed work products for outside CPAs preparing tax returns.
  • Oversee financial reporting for all commercial properties.
  • Participate in financing, acquisition, and disposition transactions.
  • Develop procedures to enhance revenue and contain costs.
  • Manage loan agreements and ensure compliance with financial activities.
  • Coordinate with property management for accurate reporting of revenue and operations.
  • Approve and record semi-monthly payroll computations.
  • Lead the integration of financial technologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial strategies.
  • Identify and address tax issues related to financial activities.
  • Oversee preparation of tax workpapers and quarterly estimates.
  • Serve as the liaison with external tax, legal, and family office professionals.
  • Manage capital call processes and distribution activities.
  • Review investment accounting and financial reporting for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with property management on budget preparation and CAM reconciliations.
  • Develop and enforce internal control policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Prior supervisory experience in accounting.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California (preferred).
  • Experience in real estate finance and accounting, preferably in retail.
  • Experience in Section 1031 exchanges is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Yardi Breeze Premier &/or Yardi and QuickBooks.
  • Demonstrated leadership and development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $160,000 - $190,000 per year.
  • Full-time, in-office attendance required.
