About the position

The Director of Accounting and Finance at CHT USA Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting, finance, and controlling functions of the company's operations in the United States. This position holds primary responsibility for all areas relating to financial analysis and reporting, as well as ensuring compliance with financial audit and tax regulations. The Director will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to guarantee accurate and timely financial statements, alongside a multitude of related accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, financial analysis and reporting, year-end audits, and support for budget and forecast activities. In this role, the Director will interface with senior-level management and various functional department heads, necessitating strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. The position also requires travel, reflecting the need for engagement with different operational sites and stakeholders. The Director will supervise a team of five finance and clerical employees, engaging in typical management duties such as educating staff on processes, allocating work, advising, and guiding personnel, handling performance issues, and fostering professional development. The Director will be responsible for managing the annual budgeting process in conjunction with the CFO, ensuring timely and accurate input for budget and forecasting activities. They will maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger detail structure, ensuring all accounting records are accurately maintained. The role includes ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting closes, as well as managing daily banking activities, cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The Director will also oversee the preparation for the year-end audit process, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and collaborating with outside tax service providers. Additionally, the Director will respond to inquiries from the CFO and other senior managers regarding financial performance and support special projects as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the direct supervisor to five finance and clerical employees, managing their performance and professional development.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process in conjunction with the CFO, ensuring timely and accurate input for budget and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger detail structure, ensuring accurate maintenance of accounting records.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting closes.
  • Monitor daily banking activity and manage cash flow, ensuring timely processing of accounts payable and collection of accounts receivable.
  • Develop more efficient procedures and resource use within the department while maintaining accuracy.
  • Collaborate with finance department personnel to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of company accounts in preparation for the year-end audit process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax and state tax returns, collaborating with outside tax service providers.
  • Respond to inquiries from the CFO and other senior managers regarding financial results and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or other business degree.
  • MBA or MS from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • 15+ years of related experience, preferably in a batch manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years of managerial experience.
  • Highly organized and capable of working independently while proficiently multi-tasking.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and manage staff to achieve excellent performance.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles including GAAP.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, with experience in SAP being a plus.
  • Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems.
  • Ability to present information in varying degrees of detail depending on the audience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a batch manufacturing environment is a plus.
