About the position

CompanyCam is seeking a Director of Accounting - Controller to join our dynamic Finance Leadership team. This pivotal role involves serving as a trusted partner and skilled people manager, overseeing a wide range of impactful activities. The responsibilities include managing the closing cycle, financial systems, payroll accuracy, tax compliance, internal controls, audits, reconciliations, reporting processes, vendor contracts, and treasury functions. This position offers an opportunity to take ownership and make a significant impact within our organization. In this role, you will lead financial reporting and operations, overseeing all aspects of financial operations such as bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury management, and regulatory compliance related to tax deadlines, payroll, and incentives. You will execute a precise closing cycle to deliver monthly consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and financial metrics to stakeholders including FP&A, the executive team, board of directors, investors, and banks. Additionally, you will provide insightful commentary and strategic recommendations on the company's financial position. You will also ensure robust accounting processes by developing and refining accounting policies, contributing to the creation and iteration of the department's handbook, and implementing new internal controls to support the goal of establishing a world-class finance team. Leveraging technology and automation will be key, as you drive the optimization of CompanyCam's financial infrastructure for scalability, focusing on enhancing automation to minimize errors and streamline operations. Supporting strategic finance initiatives is another critical aspect of this role. You will collaborate with the CFO and CEO to prepare for future fundraising efforts, M&A activities, due diligence processes, and other strategic financial initiatives while proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks. Furthermore, you will manage and develop the accounting team, directly leading, mentoring, and cultivating growth within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations including bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Execute a precise closing cycle to deliver monthly consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and financial metrics to stakeholders.
  • Provide insightful commentary and strategic recommendations on the company's financial position.
  • Develop and refine accounting policies and contribute to the creation of the department's handbook.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role or in corporate finance, investment banking, venture capital, or management consulting.
  • Possess a professional accounting or finance designation (CPA, CFA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing processes, documentation, and frameworks to support rapid and efficient growth.
  • 1-2 years of experience in people management.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing strategic processes and policies that enhance CompanyCam's financial performance.
  • Experience leading and executing annual public audits, ensuring accurate and timely financial closings, and managing payroll operations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Collaborative and growth-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Reside permanently and currently in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with a specialization in accounting or finance.
  • Well-versed in SaaS/tech business models and metrics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial systems such as QuickBooks Online, Stripe, SQL, and various ERP platforms.
  • Experience using multiple ERP systems.
  • Enjoy taking initiative and are eager to seize opportunities that add value.
  • Located in Nebraska or experienced in effectively managing remote or hybrid teams.
