About the position

The Director of Accounting at the South Carolina Hospital Association is responsible for leading the internal accounting and finance functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and managing the annual budget process. This role requires a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and involves overseeing cash flow management, coordinating audits, and providing financial analysis to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Direct accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
• Coordinate a clean and timely year-end audit annually
• Direct and oversee cash flow management and investments
• Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations
• Coordinate and manage the annual budget process for SCHA and its affiliates
• Assist leadership in preparing departmental and affiliate budgets
• Provide, analyze, educate, and discuss accurate departmental and affiliate budget performance reports to leadership on a monthly and annual basis
• Analyze and provide monthly organizational financial statements to management
• Ensure payments are made and invoices submitted timely and accurately
• Ensure completion and submission of state and federal tax returns
• Complete financial reporting for local, state, and federal grants and contracts
• Allocate payroll expense in the GL
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 6 years of experience in accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with general ledger accounting
• Senior level tax experience
