About the position

Roland Foods, LLC is seeking a Director of Accounts Receivable and Trade Finance to join our team in New York City. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing collections, cash posting, and managing various promotional marketing, rebate, and national account deviated price programs. The Director will lead a team of 14, including 3 direct reports, and will report directly to the Controller of Roland Foods. The position requires a strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and customer programs, as well as proficiency in financial software such as Microsoft D365. In this role, you will manage and support team leads in overseeing collections, cash posting, and deductions processing. Regular check-ins and progress reviews will be essential to ensure effective performance and the development of key performance indicators (KPIs). You will also be responsible for escalating delinquent accounts to the customer service and sales teams for collaborative resolution, and reporting on the status of customer collections to the executive team. Additionally, you will partner with the Sales and Pricing teams to manage promotional marketing, rebate, and national account deviated price programs. This includes approving new programs in Trade Management Software (Blacksmith) and ensuring proper setup in our ERP system. You will calculate, validate, and approve customer program and broker commission payments, as well as review monthly customer program accruals and reconcile related balance sheet accounts. The role also involves assisting with external audits, identifying and resolving process inefficiencies, and implementing best practices to streamline operations. You will provide guidance on complex issues and foster a collaborative work environment, while also preparing ad-hoc analyses as needed by management. As a leader, you will hire, manage, motivate, and formally evaluate the performance of all direct reports, ensuring a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support team leads overseeing collections, cash posting, and deductions processing/disputes.
  • Regularly check in with team leads to review progress and develop effective KPIs.
  • Escalate delinquent accounts to customer service and sales teams for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Report on the status of customer collections to the Executive team.
  • Oversee new customer setup and assist in determining credit terms.
  • Partner with Sales and Pricing teams to manage promotional marketing, rebate, and national account deviated price programs.
  • Approve new programs in Trade Management Software (Blacksmith) and ensure proper setup in ERP (Microsoft D365).
  • Calculate, validate, and approve customer program and broker commission payments.
  • Review monthly customer program accruals and reconcile related balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly trend analysis to identify unusual fluctuations in contra sales.
  • Assist with external audits, including preparation of schedules and gathering of support.
  • Identify and resolve process/system inefficiencies and drive process improvements.
  • Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline operations.
  • Provide guidance on complex issues and foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis as needed by management.
  • Hire, manage, motivate, and formally evaluate the performance of all direct reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of accounting experience including Accounts Receivable and Customer Programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft D365.
  • Strong understanding of promotional marketing, rebate, and pricing programs.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience performing and reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $140,000 - $160,000.
  • Bonus eligibility based on performance.
