About the position

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is seeking a Director of Accounts Receivable (AR) to lead its Accounts Receivable operations and support the Senior Director of Accounting with general accounting tasks such as bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance. This role involves supervising the Staff Accountant and collaborating closely with the Finance team to understand budget and funding requirements from various funders. The Director will also work alongside the Director of Accounts Payable, with opportunities for cross-training in that area. Founded over 40 years ago, MCC has positively impacted over 150,000 families in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, particularly in areas with high poverty rates, infant mortality, and health disparities. The organization is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families while enhancing school readiness for children aged 0-3. With a diverse workforce of over 190 staff members and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, MCC operates with an annual budget of $21 million. The successful candidate will possess substantial experience in Accounting Operations, particularly in Accounts Receivable, and will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and skills necessary for the role. Familiarity with online accounting software, preferably MIP, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Accounts Receivable Policies, Procedures and Operations
  • Supervise the Staff Accountant and oversee their responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to understand budget and funding requirements
  • Oversee the pilot project for Medicaid billing
  • Assess means of payment for new contracts or grants
  • Ensure funds requested align with budgets and contract requirements
  • Create a schedule of invoices by due date and responsible personnel
  • Maintain schedules and generate reports to communicate status of receivables
  • Follow up with funders if payments fall behind
  • Review and post entries of invoices into MIP
  • Enter activity of Money Market, Merrill Lynch, and Truist accounts into MIP monthly
  • Assist in annual financial and 403B audits
  • Attend relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals
  • Complete special projects as directed by the Vice President of Finance and Administration or Senior Director of Accounting
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of professional experience in Accounting roles and processes
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience using online accounting software
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel functions
  • Experience in positions requiring interpersonal relations
  • Bachelor's Degree with substantial credits in accounting or relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of experience in Accounting at a non-profit organization
  • Three years of experience in Accounts Receivable
  • Highly advanced skills in Excel including complex functions
  • Experience with MIP Accounting software
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management.
