About the position

The Director of Activities is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the activities program at Hillsborough County Nursing Home. This role ensures that the activities meet the needs of residents in compliance with federal, state, and local standards, as well as the facility's policies. The director will manage scheduling, monitor program responses, and make necessary adjustments to enhance resident engagement and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and implementation of the activities program.
  • Supervise and evaluate the ongoing activities program in accordance with standards.
  • Schedule individual and group activities for residents.
  • Monitor and review the response to activities and make revisions as necessary.
  • Review departmental policies and procedures to ensure they are current.
  • Develop and administer the department budget.
  • Determine departmental staffing, working hours, and assignments to maintain quality care.
  • Review and evaluate employee performances annually or as required.
  • Ensure department personnel have valid and current licenses as required.

Requirements

  • Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, or is a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Must be a qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or an Activities Professional licensed or registered by the state.
