About the position

The Director of Addiction Services at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS) plays a crucial role in overseeing the administration of Addiction Services. This position involves collaboration with federal and private organizations, acting as the State Opioid Authority, and implementing large-scale priorities across the state's care continuum. The Director is responsible for policy formulation, program evaluation, quality care assurance, and maintaining service continuity, while also managing staff, budgets, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative oversight for Addiction Services.
  • Collaborate with federal and private non-profit organizations.
  • Serve as the State Opioid Authority (SOTA).
  • Direct policy formulation and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ensure quality care and maintain a continuum of services.
  • Coordinate with senior management and advise the Deputy Commissioner.
  • Resolve service-related issues and liaise with state and federal agencies.
  • Supervise staff and establish standards for service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and ensure compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the administration of related behavioral health services or direct care services in an addiction treatment setting.
  • Preference for Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioners or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
