About the position

The Director of Admissions and Recruitment at Cal State Monterey Bay is a pivotal role within the Enrollment Management Team, responsible for achieving the university's enrollment targets through strategic partnerships and data-driven decision-making. This position involves overseeing undergraduate recruitment programs, admissions application processing, and managing the Office of Admissions, all while fostering a student-centered approach and collaborating with various academic and administrative units.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of annual and long-range recruitment plans.
  • Hire, train, and coach admissions counselors to ensure their success in meeting application and enrollment goals.
  • Develop university enrollment goals and projections in consultation with senior management.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in undergraduate recruitment.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Programs to support campus visitation programs and events for prospective students.
  • Maintain effective relationships with high schools and community colleges to facilitate student transitions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of procedures for timely processing of admission applications.
  • Review admission policy for alignment with university goals and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Coordinate processing of applications for specific student groups with appropriate university departments.
  • Meet regularly with admissions counselors to review activities and provide guidance.
  • Maintain an active staff development program emphasizing continuous improvement and customer service.
  • Provide leadership on effective usage of technology and systems, including Salesforce and WebAdmit.
  • Manage the office budget and represent the office on university committees.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a related field.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the job responsibilities.
  • Three years of supervisory and/or related management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field and experience in a University setting.
  • Proficient in the use of online student information systems, preferably PeopleSoft.
  • Experience as a supervisor in a high-volume, multi-functional customer service environment.
  • Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system.
