About the position

The Director of Admissions is responsible for overseeing the admissions department in a healthcare facility, focusing on census development and occupancy management. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating admissions strategies while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The Director will collaborate with various stakeholders, develop relationships with referral partners, and lead the admissions team to achieve occupancy goals.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the overall operation of the Admissions department.
• Evaluate and adjust admission practices based on occupancy goals.
• Ensure collaboration between the business office and admissions office.
• Develop and implement a census sales strategy with admissions team members.
• Identify and develop relationships with referral partners and sources.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the census sales strategy.
• Maintain accurate records of available beds and referrals.
• Ensure timely processing of referrals and financial evaluations for potential residents.
• Consult with relevant department heads regarding admissions decisions.
• Ensure compliance with mental health screening requirements prior to admission.
• Communicate effectively with staff and maintain a culture of teamwork and respect.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
• Minimum of three years of experience in census development and occupancy management in a nursing home or related healthcare facility.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
