About the position

The Director of Advanced Practice Provider is a pivotal role within the Valley Health System, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the policies, procedures, and practices related to advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other advanced practice clinicians. This position is designed for a leader who is committed to advancing quality, safety, and patient experience within the healthcare setting. The Director will play a crucial role in developing standard work processes for onboarding and training of advanced practice providers (APPs), ensuring compliance with bylaws and medical staff affairs, and addressing regulatory compliance and compensation issues for employed APPs. In this full-time role, the Director will allocate approximately 60% of their time to clinical practice, allowing them to remain engaged with patient care, while dedicating the remaining 40% to administrative responsibilities. This balance is essential for maintaining a hands-on approach to leadership while also managing the operational aspects of the APP program. The Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer of Valley Health's Medical Group, providing strategic direction and support to ensure that all APPs are competent and compliant in their independent practices. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and practices for advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.
  • Lead the development of standard work for onboarding and training of advanced practice providers.
  • Ensure compliance with bylaws and medical staff affairs related to advanced practice clinicians.
  • Address regulatory compliance and compensation issues for employed APPs.
  • Support medical staffs and trustees in ensuring competence and compliance of independently practicing APPs.
  • Allocate time effectively between clinical practice and administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with a surgical background.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and develop advanced practice provider teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and medical staff affairs.
  • Experience in developing training and onboarding programs for healthcare professionals.
