About the position

The Director of Advancement and Development at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is responsible for managing and executing all philanthropic programs, communications, and fundraising efforts for the organization. This role involves collaborating with leadership to develop financial strategies, engaging various programs in fundraising, and advocating for the organization within the community. The position aims to enhance the culture of philanthropy and establish new partnerships to support the center's mission of serving the community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute all philanthropic programs and fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Finance to develop financial strategies.
  • Engage programs and departments in fundraising efforts.
  • Serve as an expert resource on fundraising for staff and strategic partners.
  • Advocate for Hallie Q. Brown in the community and build relationships with local leaders and organizations.
  • Stay updated on current fundraising and marketing practices in the nonprofit sector.
  • Solicit donations and establish new contacts for development.
  • Develop recommendations for prospective grants and individual donations.
  • Maintain touchpoints with current donors to ensure continued support.
  • Create development strategies to solicit and maintain corporate and foundation donors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or equivalent knowledge through experience.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in a fundraising capacity.
  • Interest in the human services nonprofit sector; experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Rondo community.
  • Exceptional project management and administrative support skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills and social media savvy.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience working in a nonprofit setting.
  • Knowledge of diverse groups from lower socioeconomic conditions.
  • Skills in conflict management.
