About the position

The Director of Advancement for the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri is a leadership role focused on fundraising and advancement initiatives. This position is responsible for soliciting major gifts from alumni, corporations, and foundations, and plays a key role in executing the College's advancement strategies. The Director will collaborate closely with the Dean and Executive Director of Advancement to develop and implement fundraising plans that align with the College's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with alumni, corporations, foundations, and other key constituents to solicit and close major gifts for the College of Engineering.
  • Create and execute fundraising plans utilizing best practices in major giving, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors.
  • Develop and execute an annual operating plan with accountable monetary and activity goals in coordination with the Dean and Executive Director for Advancement.
  • Participate in prospect management and strategy meetings as a member of the University Advancement team.
  • Assist in developing program funding priorities and related cases for support.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in a higher education advancement setting.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of frontline fundraising experience in a higher education advancement setting.
  • Experience in campaign planning/execution and major gift solicitations.
