About the position

The Director of Advancement is responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities within the organization. This role is a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the CEO and COO to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and manage donor relationships. The position requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a passion for advancing the organization's mission through effective fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the advancement team.
  • Develop and execute long- and short-range fundraising strategies and goals.
  • Establish targeted revenues and expenses for the organization's annual budget.
  • Collaborate with leadership team members to integrate advancement strategies into overall organizational plans.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with individual and corporate donors, as well as foundations.
  • Develop plans to request contributions from specific donors.
  • Identify and apply for grants from foundations and charitable organizations.
  • Generate regular reports on contributed revenue for the leadership team and board of directors.
  • Plan and execute direct mail campaigns, giving requests, and annual fundraising events.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct management experience in fundraising preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience with professional certifications (CFRE, etc.) and/or a master's degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of fundraising best practices, especially pipeline development and moves management.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationally.
  • Proficient in Office 365 suite preferred.

  • Experience with CRM systems, specifically Virtuous.
  • Relationship-driven individual with tenacity and a self-starting disposition.
  • Ability to work well in collaborative environments.
