The Director of Athletic Services is responsible for overseeing and supporting the overall operation of the athletic department within the school district. This position plays a crucial role in organizing and administering the entire program of UIL athletic activities for the district, ensuring that all athletic events are scheduled and managed effectively. The Director will maintain records of middle school and high school athletic contests, and will be responsible for the organization and scheduling of all athletic and aquatic activities. Additionally, the Director oversees the district's Health and Physical Education (HPE) program, fostering good relations with the community to keep them informed and engaged with the athletic program. The Director will also manage the SISD Athletics and Aquatics web pages, working with staff to enhance the presentation of information to better serve students, staff, and community members. A significant aspect of this role includes maintaining positive relationships with local media and providing leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches, trainers, and staff. The Director will organize and administer game management for athletic contests at the Student Activities Complex (SAC) and at SISD high school campuses, ensuring that all events run smoothly and efficiently. In addition to these responsibilities, the Director will coordinate the assignment of athletic contest officials, prepare and administer budgets for athletics and aquatics, and manage post-season travel arrangements for all athletic programs. The role also involves overseeing ticket sales for athletic contests, contracting for out-of-town regular season and post-season athletic contests, and administering the district's student athletic insurance program. The Director will evaluate district athletic facilities, provide input for repairs, and make recommendations for major renovations over a multi-year timeframe. Furthermore, the Director will develop and disseminate information regarding the district's athletic programs, ensuring compliance with UIL and SISD regulations, and will serve in an advisory capacity on UIL District Executive Committees. The position requires a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and maintain emotional control under stress. The Director must demonstrate a commitment to the goals and objectives of the school district and support its social media efforts to highlight student and staff achievements.
