About the position

Ball State University is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the position of Director of Athletic Ticket Operations. This full-time role is pivotal in managing the ticketing operations for the university's athletic department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and directing the day-to-day ticket operations, which includes ticketing, premium seating, and the development of comprehensive strategies for season ticket, group, and promotional ticket sales. The Director will ensure that all operational goals and objectives are met while adhering strictly to NCAA and MAC rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the department and the university. In this role, the Director will serve as the operational point person and primary user of ticketing software, such as Ticketmaster Archtics, for the Department of Athletics. They will manage customer service for all ticketed home events, as well as ticketing for select away and neutral site events. The Director will also be responsible for hiring, scheduling, supervising, and training student and game day ticketing staff and graduate assistants, ensuring they are well-versed in daily ticket sales, cash and credit card transactions, and customer service protocols. The position requires maintaining knowledge of best practices and updates related to ticketing system software and other relevant technology. The Director will act as a liaison between Ball State Athletics and ticketing software partners, as well as other campus units for matters relating to ticket operations. Additionally, the Director will oversee the management and distribution of complimentary tickets for coaches and student-athlete guests, ensuring compliance with NCAA and university policies. This role also involves collaborating with marketing and media relations staff to keep the Athletics website updated with timely information and functional ticket sales links. The Director of Athletic Ticket Operations will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall ticketing experience for fans and ensuring the smooth operation of ticket sales and distribution for all athletic events at Ball State University.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, supervise and direct the day-to-day ticket operations for Ball State University Athletics.
  • Serve as operational point person and primary user of ticketing software for the Department of Athletics.
  • Manage customer service for all ticketed home events and select away and neutral site events.
  • Hire, schedule, supervise, and train student and/or game day ticketing staff and graduate assistants.
  • Develop, administer and audit cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices and updates related to ticketing system software and other relevant technology.
  • Act as liaison between Ball State Athletics and ticketing software partners.
  • Oversee the management and distribution of complimentary tickets for coach and student-athlete guests.
  • Support on-site ticket sales staff and provide ticket system training as needed.
  • Collaborate with marketing and media relations staff to ensure the Athletics website is updated with relevant information.
  • Evaluate all policies and procedures for relevance and updates to keep up with technology and current rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
  • Working experience in professional and/or college sports.
  • Authorization to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
