About the position

The Director of Behavioral Health Intake Services at Dominion Hospital is responsible for overseeing the overall function and staffing of the intake department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves strategic planning, budget monitoring, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration within the team. The Director will also work closely with clinical operations to enhance assessment and referral processes, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and promoting positive relationships within the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the intake department.
  • Forecast, plan, and monitor the budget for the department.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and collaboration among staff.
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.
  • Respond positively to customer needs and expectations, serving as a role model for customer service principles.
  • Supervise staff regarding emergency detention, needs assessment, and community referrals.
  • Facilitate effective communication and problem-solving with staff in other departments.
  • Promote positive relationships and build morale within the department.
  • Continuously assess and improve the performance of care/services provided by the department.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO, CMS, and state regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred) or other approved education plan.
  • Master's Degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Behavioral Health environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in assessment and/or intake department within an inpatient behavioral health hospital.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles within healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and stabilization programs.
