About the position

We are looking for a creative, strategic and results-oriented Director of Brand Marketing and Communications to shape the direction and amplify the message of the Skiplagged brand as we grow rapidly. You will be responsible to raise consumer awareness in regards to how Skiplagged is the most unique and traveler-friendly online travel company. As a key leader of the company, you'll be responsible for all of our organic and brand marketing efforts. These include: brand marketing, PR/external communications, social media/influencers, and brand strategy/positioning/messaging. The right candidate will be a mix of scrappy and entrepreneurial, while also being able to think strategically and execute at scale. You will be successful in delivering short-term wins, while prioritizing the long-term success of the brand. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of brand-building and leading multiple brand-oriented channels at high-growth companies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a data-driven, customer-centric brand strategy that aligns with Skiplagged's vision and business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of branding initiatives across all platforms and channels.
  • Provide the leadership, strategy and vision to develop a comprehensive communications strategy for both internal and external audiences to elevate Skiplagged's brand position and awareness.
  • Lead the effort to understand the core user persona of the Skiplagged product and how we market our brand to that audience.
  • Build a strategy and vision for how we expand our brand to broader audiences.
  • Own our social media strategy and execution. Identify and execute on organic and pave a path for how that can enable us to do paid social at scale.
  • Directly manage the relationship with our PR firm to secure regular, high impact earned media.
  • Drive campaign development across various channels to help Skiplagged increase cultural relevance, awareness, and overall conversion with consumers.
  • Be a steward of the brand internally and externally, ensuring all channels and departments are working toward the same brand vision and brand personality comes across in everything we do.
  • Lead consumer research and messaging development, creating a constant stream of insights to iterate on how we talk to consumers and evolve the brand.
  • Write and develop key messaging and marketing copy for high visibility marketing channels and campaigns.

Requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills: You have excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to distill complex communication concepts into a clear and intuitive storyline.
  • Expert at Your Craft: You're a seasoned brand marketer who comes to the table with a point of view, deep expertise, and an ability to tell our story in a way that resonates deeply.
  • Bias for Action: You move quickly and don't overthink things.
  • Scrappy: You're willing to get your hands dirty and think creatively to get things done in an early stage startup environment.
  • Take Ownership: You own your results and take insights and learnings to heart that can continue propelling your work forward.
  • Data Oriented: You have strong analytical skills and an ability to use data to tell a story. Your ability to look at data also allows you to determine the best course of action and when to double down and when to pivot.
  • Thrive in Ambiguity: You're used to making sense of open and less structured mandates and turning them into something successful.
  • 10+ years experience in communications and/or brand roles, with at least several spent in a startup environment and in a leadership position.
