The Director of Business Operations at the University of Miami is a pivotal role responsible for evaluating, administering, and directing all business and administrative matters within the assigned department. This includes overseeing budget management, operations, and personnel administration. The Director will provide financial analysis and strategic planning, ensuring that budgetary controls are maintained in collaboration with various levels of management. Reporting directly to the Sr. Associate Vice President of Operations, the Director will implement, coordinate, and evaluate business operations for the department or division, which encompasses statistical, performance, and managerial reporting, as well as decision and budget support, capital planning, and process improvement. In this role, the Director will develop and ensure adherence to the department's annual budget in accordance with University guidelines and policies. They will participate in financial analysis and planning, monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances, and identifying opportunities for performance improvement. The Director will advance the strategic financial plan and make recommendations to senior management on executing the department's objectives effectively. Additionally, the Director will formulate department policies and guidelines to align with the University and department mission, oversee the review and approval of all expenditures, and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulations. The position also involves human resources management, including hiring, training, and preparing performance reports for staff. The Director will create an effective control environment, conduct risk assessments, and implement and monitor controls to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency.
