About the position

The Director of Business Operations at Northshore School District plays a crucial role in assisting the Deputy Superintendent/Chief Financial Officer with the coordination, development, and oversight of the district's financial operations, including budget development, accounting, and audit functions. This position is responsible for ensuring fiscal stability and compliance with state and federal regulations while providing technical advice and support to district staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the district budget document.
  • Directs and coordinates management data and reporting for the budget.
  • Calculates employee costs and runs reports to assist in budget development.
  • Oversees data input and audits data for accuracy.
  • Coordinates enrollment projections for budget development process.
  • Performs certificated salary compliance calculations and recommends certificated salary schedule.
  • Assists with the development of a position accounting system for budget and HR operations.
  • Analyzes proposals and contracts to assess impacts to budget and payroll operations.
  • Develops four-year budget forecast to assist district officials in ensuring fiscal stability.
  • Analyzes impacts of state proposals relating to school district funding and finances.
  • Prepares analysis of fund balance monthly and monitors revenue projections.
  • Coordinates and assigns accounting codes used by budget, HR, and payroll offices.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Produces and analyzes specialized reports for decision-making processes.
  • Attends meetings and serves as technical advisor on fiscal management information systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, accounting, or closely related analytical field.
  • Four years of increasingly responsible management information experience.
  • K-12 School District experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, calculate, and communicate effectively.
  • Skill in analyzing, implementing, and maintaining management information systems.
  • Knowledge of internal control systems and computer reporting systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public accounting or public administration.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Business + reporting systems.
