About The Position

The Director of Career Services at Albany State University is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive career education and job search services program. This role focuses on assisting students in identifying their career goals, securing job opportunities, and fostering professional development. The Director will build relationships with businesses and employers to enhance student employment opportunities while managing the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities of the Career Services department.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in career services, higher education, or a related field, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in building and maintaining employer partnerships and securing job placements or internships for students.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Career Services department in providing strategic guidance to students, faculty, and staff on career development, job search strategies, and employment opportunities.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive career services program that aligns with the goals of the university and meets the evolving needs of students.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all career-related initiatives on campus, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student success metrics.
  • Assist students in exploring career pathways, identifying professional goals, and creating action plans for achieving those goals.
  • Provide one-on-one career counseling, resume reviews, interview preparation, and job search support.
  • Organize and promote career fairs, employer recruitment events, networking opportunities, and workshops that support student professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a variety of businesses, organizations, and industries to create internship, job, and recruitment opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry leaders to identify workforce needs and ensure alignment between academic programs and job market demands.
  • Develop internship programs, cooperative education opportunities, and employer partnerships to enhance student employment outcomes.
  • Supervise and manage all Career Services staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the departmental budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with university priorities.
  • Develop and implement office policies, procedures, and best practices to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to student employment rates, employer engagement, and the effectiveness of career services programming.
  • Conduct regular assessments of student and employer satisfaction, adjusting services and programs as needed based on feedback and data.
  • Ensure the use of Focus2Career assessments and align results with students' academic majors and career goals.
