About the position

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for the Master of Science in Athletic Training at West Virginia University is a full-time, non-tenure track position responsible for overseeing the clinical education component of the program. The DCE will play a crucial role in directing student clinical progression, assigning clinical experiences, evaluating students and clinical sites, and ensuring the professional development of preceptors. This position requires a strong background in athletic training and experience in a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee student clinical progression.
• Assign students to athletic training clinical and supplemental clinical experiences.
• Evaluate students, clinical sites, and preceptors.
• Communicate regularly with preceptors and provide professional development opportunities.
• Develop regular preceptor training programs.
• Select clinical sites and preceptors.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a field related to athletic training.
• Contemporary expertise in athletic training.
• Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification.
• Minimum of three years of clinical practice as an athletic trainer.
• NPI number with appropriate health care field designation.
• Scholarship record or potential to contribute to scholarship appropriate for rank.

Nice-to-haves

• Earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DAT, etc.) in fields related to athletic training.
• Minimum of three years teaching in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program.
• Previous experience as a Director/Coordinator of Clinical Education in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training program.
• Experience working with NCAA Division I Athletics.
