About the position

As the Nursing Director of Behavioral Health at Penn Highlands Healthcare, you will play a pivotal role in providing professional clinical leadership and direct administration to the behavioral health departments. Your responsibilities will encompass achieving results in clinical quality, service excellence, human resource management, and financial management. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing a strategic plan aimed at the growth and development of behavioral health services within the organization. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients and ensuring that the department operates efficiently and effectively. In this leadership role, you will oversee the daily operations of the behavioral health departments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to foster a collaborative environment that promotes high standards of patient care. Your leadership will be essential in mentoring staff, facilitating professional development opportunities, and driving initiatives that enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics to ensure the financial health of the behavioral health services. The position also involves engaging with various stakeholders, including patients, families, and community partners, to promote the services offered by the behavioral health departments. You will be expected to represent the organization at various forums and contribute to the overall strategic direction of Penn Highlands Healthcare. Responsibilities

  • Provide professional clinical leadership to the behavioral health departments.
  • Direct administration of behavioral health services to achieve clinical quality and service excellence.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the growth and development of behavioral health services.
  • Oversee daily operations of the behavioral health departments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and support staff in their professional development and performance.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation effectively.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote behavioral health services and enhance community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Three years of direct patient care in an inpatient and/or outpatient behavioral health setting required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Healthcare provider (CPR) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Comprehensive crisis management (CCM) certification within 12 months of start date in the department/position.
  • Desire to develop management skills and accept responsibility for department functioning.

Nice-to-haves
