About the position

The Director of Communications at SOSV is responsible for enhancing the firm's visibility and reputation in the deep tech investment space, particularly in climate and human health. This role involves crafting compelling narratives, managing media outreach, and supporting portfolio companies in their communication strategies. The director will work closely with senior partners and founders to ensure effective messaging and representation in the press.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies for SOSV and its portfolio companies.
• Conduct press interviews and represent the firm at events for general partners.
• Collaborate with portfolio company founders to refine their media pitches and outreach efforts.
• Produce press releases and content for the SOSV website.
• Coordinate major productions such as the Human Health 100 and Climate Tech 100 lists.
• Manage social media content, particularly on LinkedIn, tailored to various audiences.
• Analyze media performance using proprietary scoring systems and brand surveys.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in communications at an agency or VC/tech firm.
• Strong relationships with journalists in climate, health, tech, and finance sectors.
• Proficient in media outreach and creating opportunities aligned with firm priorities.
• Ability to educate stakeholders on media and communication best practices.
• Excellent writing skills for pitches, press releases, and marketing copy.
• Experience in creating tailored social media content.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to identify trends and inform strategy.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in deep tech or venture capital communications.
• Familiarity with climate and human health topics.
• Previous experience in event production or management.
