About the position

Mikva Challenge is seeking a Director of Communications to lead and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aimed at various audiences, including youth, media, donors, and education leaders. This role is pivotal in amplifying the voices of students and showcasing the organization's impact on civic engagement and education. The Director will collaborate with internal teams to create compelling content, manage media relations, and maintain a strong online presence, all while aligning communications with the organization's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate the annual communications plan and budget.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and the Board to develop communications strategies that broaden programmatic reach and elevate the national brand.
• Direct organization-wide communications to advance Mikva Challenge's mission with different audiences.
• Oversee the updating and maintenance of the organization's website and social media.
• Create and execute a robust public relations and media outreach strategy.
• Act as the organization's spokesperson and respond to media inquiries.
• Lead and supervise the communications team, providing guidance and support.
• Establish, track, and report on key metrics for communications initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
• Minimum of seven years of communications experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
• Expertise in media relations, branding, online presence, and donor communications.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills in a journalistic style.
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
• Ability to transform complex information into clear messages for various audiences.
