About the position

The Director of Community Engagement for Beaches Go Green plays a pivotal role in fostering community relationships and driving initiatives that promote environmental education in the Jacksonville Beach area. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage social media platforms, collect and analyze data, and engage with diverse volunteer populations to educate them on vital environmental issues, particularly in the realm of plastic pollution. The ideal candidate will possess strong public speaking skills and a passion for education and fundraising to support various programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for community engagement that align with organizational goals.
  • Lead logistical and operational aspects of events and serve as the main point of contact for community relations, sponsors, and promotional outreach.
  • Collaborate with local community organizations, businesses, schools, and governmental agencies to support joint initiatives and cross-promotional events.
  • Manage social media accounts and create content to enhance outreach, education, and communication efforts.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of engagement initiatives.
  • Provide environmental education and conduct public speaking engagements to raise awareness about environment-related issues, particularly regarding plastic pollution.
  • Lead fundraising efforts by identifying opportunities and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Supervise volunteers involved in engagement activities such as presentations, community cleanup events, and other conservation efforts.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including permits, volunteer management, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to program management and reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in social media management and environmental health initiatives.
  • Strong background in data collection and analysis, with the ability to translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Experience or training in environmental education and issues is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of supervising teams effectively.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities, capable of engaging diverse audiences including students of various ages.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for administrative tasks.
  • Experience in fundraising or grant writing is a huge plus.
  • A passion for community service and improving the health of our environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nonprofit management (1 year preferred).
  • Associate's degree (preferred).
