About the position

The Director of Compliance & Title IX Coordinator at Bellingham Technical College (BTC) is a full-time, exempt position responsible for overseeing the college's compliance program. This role ensures adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations, particularly in areas such as Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act, and the Jeanne Clery Act. The Director will also serve as the Title IX Coordinator, managing investigations and training related to discrimination and compliance issues. The position aims to foster a college environment that upholds the highest ethical standards and promotes diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a college-wide compliance program.
  • Coordinate policies and procedures for compliance with public records requests and federal/state civil rights laws.
  • Manage programs under the Jeanne Clery Act and prepare the Annual Safety Report.
  • Lead compliance-related investigations and ensure a fair process.
  • Oversee the Title IX and EEO investigation and resolution process.
  • Provide training and development on sex-based discrimination and anti-discrimination efforts.
  • Develop educational materials regarding Title IX rights and responsibilities.
  • Execute a compliance monitoring and auditing program.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate compliance requirements into processes.
  • Stay current with legislation impacting higher education and represent the college in professional communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three years of experience in compliance, audit, or enterprise risk management.
  • Experience investigating complaints within legal requirements.
  • Ability to explain complex compliance issues to employees.
  • Experience developing and leading training programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post graduate degree.
  • Experience in compliance at a higher education institution.
  • Knowledge of civil rights, disability, Title IX, and Jeanne Clery Act regulations.
  • Compliance and/or Ethics Professional Certification.
  • Training in trauma-informed practices.

  • Salary range of $6,941 to $7,482 per month based on experience.
