The Construction Project Manager (Director) position at Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County is a full-time executive role that plays a crucial part in overseeing two primary programs: Housing Preservation and Developing New Homeownership Opportunities. This position is designed for an individual with a strong background in construction project management, particularly someone who has local knowledge and relationships with building and construction jurisdictions in Southern Santa Barbara County. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in construction project management and a passion for helping low-income individuals and families build or improve their homes. In this role, the Director will lead various initiatives, including project management of home repair and rehabilitation programs, new construction projects, and government contract management. The Director will also be responsible for leading the Building and Construction Committee, which is a volunteer leadership group that provides expertise and guidance related to the organization's mission. The position requires collaboration with fundraising and volunteer teams to support new housing projects, as well as oversight of partnerships with architects and licensed general contractors to ensure that construction milestones are met within budget and timeline. The Director will also manage the proper expenditure of grants and government contracts, coordinate with the fundraising team on capital fundraising initiatives, and facilitate in-kind product donations while ensuring compliance with construction standards set by Habitat for Humanity International. Additionally, the Director will work closely with the Home Repair Project Manager to develop systems for executing home repairs, ensuring program compliance related to safety and subcontractors, and providing project reporting to funders and community partners. This role is not only about managing projects but also about building relationships and fostering a collaborative environment among volunteers, donors, and community members.
