About the position

The Marketing/Communications role at Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies focuses on enhancing employee engagement and promoting the company's culture through effective internal communication strategies. This position serves as a liaison between the Marketing and Human Resources teams, ensuring that the company's mission, vision, and values are effectively communicated and upheld across all offices. The role also involves managing the company's reputation, supporting recruitment efforts, and organizing events that foster employee well-being and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Marketing/Communications team by serving as primary liaison with Human Resources to promote and enhance the company's award-winning culture.
  • Oversee the content and resources made available to employees through our intranet portal 'IntraGUARD Zone'.
  • Support the company's mission, vision, values, and guiding principles through an enhanced internal communication strategy.
  • Support employee recruitment efforts through externally magnifying GUARD as an attractive employer brand using a range of tactics across social media platforms.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to develop and execute programs, events, and activities that enhance employee engagement and overall well-being across all offices and with remote employees.
  • Oversee reputation management strategy, work to improve/secure favorable company ratings from Google Reviews, BBB, Indeed, and coordinate appropriate responses to complaints and media inquiries.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team and HR to organize internal meetings, training sessions, and events including our annual off-site Summit and Holiday Party.
  • Create a repository of employee testimonials in support of our culture, mission, vision, and values.
  • Create tools to maintain brand identity internally and offer easy access to resources for interdisciplinary compliance.
  • Assist with enhancing corporate sustainability strategy and philanthropic strategy/community involvement with multiple US field offices.
  • Create, own and implement a media relations strategy, both proactive and reactive, to support our objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, or related field.
  • At least five years of experience with employee engagement and/or communication/media relations strategies.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Highly creative.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to field offices countrywide.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress.
  • Experience with event planning and project management.
  • Understanding of the insurance industry.
