About the position

The Director of Creative Content at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) plays a pivotal role in managing all aspects of video services and multimedia for the UNCW Athletics department. This position is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and operational needs of creative content creation, video board content, and graphic design. The Director will enhance the student-athlete experience through innovative multimedia services and will lead a team that includes full-time, temporary, and student staff members. This team is tasked with producing all streaming and video content for the athletic department, ensuring that the content aligns with the mission and brand of UNCW Athletics. In addition to managing the multimedia team, the Director will be involved in special projects that require a high level of creativity and technical expertise. The role demands a strong understanding of live production settings, including technical directing, replay operation, and web-streaming. The Director will also be responsible for cultivating a collaborative environment that fosters the development of team members and enhances the overall quality of content produced. This position is essential for promoting academic excellence, community engagement, and competitive success within the athletics program at UNCW. The Director of Creative Content will work closely with various stakeholders within the university to ensure that all multimedia efforts support the broader goals of the institution. This includes collaborating with other departments to create engaging content that resonates with the university community and enhances the visibility of UNCW Athletics. The successful candidate will bring a blend of creative vision, technical skills, and leadership experience to this dynamic role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Creative Content and Streaming for UNCW Athletics.
  • Oversee special projects, video board content, and graphic design.
  • Lead the recruitment, development, and management of full-time, temporary, and student staff.
  • Enhance the student-athlete experience through multimedia services.
  • Strategically develop content that aligns with the athletics mission and brand.
  • Ensure high-quality production of streaming and video content for the athletic department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio, and emerging media environment, with one year in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Experience managing and developing a large team for creative content creation and broadcast production (one year or more preferred).
  • Work experience in a live production setting, including technical directing, replay operation, video playback, and web-streaming.
  • Experience with Daktronics displays and software.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division I athletics.
