About the position

The Director of Cyber & Computer Science Education at the University of South Carolina Aiken will lead the expansion and development of K-12 education programs focused on cybersecurity, coding, and computer science. This role involves teaching innovative STEM lessons, coordinating educational programs for students and teachers, and enhancing existing curricula to prepare the next generation of cyber-literate individuals. The director will also engage in community outreach and collaboration with various stakeholders to promote cybersecurity education.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the RPSEC's cyber, coding and computer science education programs for students and teachers.
• Effectively teach innovative science, mathematics, and technology lessons with a focus on cyber and computer science education.
• Lead technology coordination efforts at RPSEC, integrating technology into instructional programs and supporting its use by staff.
• Engage in networking and grant writing to secure external funding for educational programs.
• Perform other duties as determined by the director of the RPSEC.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
• Master's degree and 3 years teaching or related experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years teaching or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic education principles, curriculum development, and instructional design.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and coworkers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with coding, programming, or authoring languages.
• Familiarity with the field of cybersecurity or other technical fields.
