About the position

The Director of Data and Compliance at Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center is a leadership role focused on overseeing data management, compliance, and reporting processes. This position is crucial for ensuring adherence to grant and contract requirements, with an emphasis on performance metrics, data quality, and policy compliance. The Director will supervise the Data Specialist and collaborate with staff to align data systems with the organization's mission of providing innovative, trauma-informed services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Data Specialist to ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Oversee compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and funding agreement requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external compliance reviews and audits.
  • Collaborate with program managers to monitor performance metrics and ensure compliance with grant deliverables.
  • Prepare performance and compliance reports for grant funders and stakeholders.
  • Monitor updates to HUD, HMIS, and regulatory standards to ensure program compliance.
  • Manage the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) as the agency's key data resource.
  • Implement and maintain data governance practices to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and visual reporting tools to track organizational performance.
  • Train staff on data collection protocols and best practices for compliance.
  • Provide guidance on interpreting performance metrics and developing corrective action plans.
  • Support the Chief Program Officer in strategic planning for data and compliance needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Services, Business Administration, Public Health, Data Science, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in grants management, compliance, or data administration, preferably in the nonprofit or homeless services sector.
  • Experience working with HMIS or similar data systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SQL).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Lived experience of homelessness or understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
